NEMA: Dr. John Bland is a world renowned rheumatologist, a marathon runner, and expert on aging...hes also over 80 years of age. His book, Live Long, Die Fast...offers advice on how to improve old age by working on fitness of the body and mind...he says stretching is a very important practice....
BLAND: We utilize a part of our nervous system called the propriaceptive nervous system, and in brief, stretching makes one aware of all parts of the body...and a person who is stretched is not just a little, but far more efficient in whatever they do.
NEMA: Being positive is a weapon against aging...
BLAND: I think ones attitude is conditioned a good deal by the sensations of optimism, and feelings of happiness about oneself that is a consequence of exercise.
