Frequently Asked Questions About NEMA's Grant Program

What is the grant limit?
Usually there is no set limit for the grants that we award. They are based on the type of request and our situation at the time of the request. However, during the past couple of years we have had a lower amount of donations and it has forced us to limit our 2008 grants awarded to $10,000 per quarter.

When is the deadline for submission?
Grant proposals are due in our office on the 15th of the month prior to each quarterly board meeting. Our board meetings are held in March, June, September and December.

Does my organization meet the qualifications for a grant?
The National Emergency Medicine Association awards grants to non-profit organizations who have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS. We fund programs that offer emergency care to the public, such as Fire Departments, EMT’s, and Hospitals.

Does my request meet the qualifications for a grant?
Only the board members themselves make the determination if a grant proposal is within our funding guidelines. If, however, after reading the guidelines, you feel that you would qualify for a grant, please submit your proposal.

Do you award grants to international organizations?
We only award grants to non-profit organizations with in US.

When will I know if we were awarded a grant?
Depending on the amount of proposals that we receive, replies are generally sent out within two weeks after the board meeting.

How many copies of the proposal do you need?
One copy, including all necessary documentation as instructed in our guidelines, is all that is needed.

Do you participate in matching grants?
No, we do not give matching grants.
