Retirement

Retirement - Choosing a Place to Retire

There are many options available today when making a decision about retirement living arrangements. These can include staying in one's own home, moving to a low-maintenance one floor home or apartment/condominium, moving to a warmer climate, and other such options that allow the highest level of independence. This booklet is directed to those retirees who are looking for a more structured approach toward retirement living.

Traveler Safety Tips

TIP: Don't open the door in a hotel or motel without verifying who it is. If they claim to be an employee, call the front desk and verify their purpose and access.

TIP: When returning to your room late, use the main entrance. Be extra-observant in parking lots. Close your room door securely and use all locking devices. Lock sliding doors, windows and connecting room doors.

TIP: Don't display hotel room keys in public or leave them where they can be seen or easily stolen. Don't invite strangers to your hotel room or into your car.

TIP: Don't display large amounts of cash or expensive jewelry. Place all valuables in the hotel safety deposit box and get a receipt. Don't leave valuables in your car. Lock tempting items such as cameras in the trunk or leave them in your room. Report any suspicious activity to the management immediately.

Water

Water - The Forgotten Requirement

Many of us are becoming more active, talking walks in the neighborhood, working in the garden, playing sports, jogging, and enjoying other forms of physical exercise. While these activities are good for the heart, not to mention the spirit, it's very important that we drink enough water to prevent becoming dehydrated. Most of us don't pay enough attention to our need for water. Failure to replace water our body loses every day due to breathing, sweating, and eliminating waste, can cause serious health problems and can even lead to death if not treated in a timely manner. This timely booklet provides important facts about our need for water, how we can recognize the symptoms of dehydration, and how to go about getting the water our bodies need.
