Traveler Safety Tips

TIP: Don’t open the door in a hotel or motel without verifying who it is. If they claim to be an employee, call the front desk and verify their purpose and access.

TIP: When returning to your room late, use the main entrance. Be extra-observant in parking lots. Close your room door securely and use all locking devices. Lock sliding doors, windows and connecting room doors.

TIP: Don’t display hotel room keys in public or leave them where they can be seen or easily stolen. Don’t invite strangers to your hotel room or into your car.

TIP: Do not display large amounts of cash or expensive jewelry. Place all valuables in the hotel safety deposit box and get a receipt. Don’t leave valuables in your car. Lock tempting items such as cameras in the trunk or leave them in your room. Report any suspicious activity to the management immediately.

seniors falls
"...that abut 60% of elderly people surveyed had a fall in the last year...and the majority of those falls were caused by wearing the wrong shoes? A study from USC and Orthopaedic Hospital in California showed many who fell on carpet had on running shoes with the heavy rubber lug soles. New or very worn leather soles were the culprits in falls on wood floors and wet sidewalks."
